Anthony started playing music back in 2001. In 2006, Anthony found his true passion when he began playing drums for Doherty High School Percussion Ensemblel. After graduating high school in 2008, Anthony took some music classes at Pikes Peak Community College, learning percussion under Bruce Anderson. He began his teaching career in 2008. Anthony became caption head in 2009 at Woodland Park High School, which consistently reached CBA finals and medaled in finals competition. Anthony taught Doherty High School percussion from 2011 to 2013, and, in 2012, he led DHS percussion to their first RMPA - Rocky Mountain Percussion Association Percussion Scholastic A gold medal. He has also taught at Sand Creek High School and is currently teaching at Pine Creek High School.
Outside of school and teaching, Anthony has pursued his knowledge and passion for drums personally through drum set performance. He began playing drum set in 2006. During this time he has played for some musical groups as well as with friends. Anthony funds his drum habit by working for Guitar Center in Colorado Springs as Operations Manager in Training.
Anthony is an avid WGI and DCI fan. These two organizations and the different musical ensembles that perform in them fuel his passion for teaching and create in him a desire to help fellow musicians achieve musical excellence.
Anthony’s personal mentors during his drum career have been Eric Kruse and Bruce Anderson. He also admires the percussive skills of Benny Greb, Paul Rennick, Stanton Moore, Peter Erskine, Aaron Gillespie, and Keith Carlock.
Without the love and support of his family and friends, Anthony recognizes that he would not be where he is today. He is extremely grateful to be a part of the Altitude team during their inaugural season.
